BR SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA DANIEL HARDING AND JEAN-YVES THIBAUDET Daniel Harding is on the podium of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunk and honors Berlioz on his 150th anniversary with the purely insturmental version of "Roméo et Juliette". The soloist of the evening is Jean-Yves Thibaudet, who plays Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major.

Harding is a regular guest at the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and Harding now surprises with a Berlioz homage. In 2019, the 150th anniversary of the death of the French romanticist will be honored worldwide. From the rarely performed vocal symphony "Roméo et Juliette" by Shakespeare's enthusiast Hector Berlioz, Harding presents four purely instrumental movements that essentially trace the tragic love story programmatically.

Jean-Yves Thibaudet plays the brilliant G Major Piano Concerto by Maurice Ravel - with his jazz-inspired wit, his Basque folklore and his Mozart-related elegance a bravura piece for every pianist, especially for a French.

And at the beginning Harding presents the suite from Béla Bartók's breathtaking ballet pantomime "The Wonderful Mandarin". Not only because of the barbaric music, but also because of the brutal subject, which revolves around prostitution, robbery and murder in the metropolitan milieu, provoked Bartók's erotic frenzy in their Cologne premiere in 1926 a tangible scandal.
