A friend recorded this from the live broadcast from local FM radio to cassette while I was at the opera. I've gone back to those original old tapes for a re-transfer, also upping the kbps rate to 320. This time I left in some of the announcements and the diva's retelling of act three.
Patricia Craig starts singing from off-stage and seems to need act 1 to warm up (Johannsson too for that matter); but then she is wonderful. Never heard of Charles Long elsewhere, but he sounds very good here. The spoken Italian of the little girl Toto is far from idiomatic, but she gives it a good try.
Unless I'm mistaken, only the Bongiovanni studio recording is more nearly complete than this version. I think you'll enjoy it
