How quickly outstanding singers are forgotten. 15 or so years ago I was lucky to hear Edmund Barham, an English tenor, in "La Gioconda" in Manchester. Later I heard him in "Aida". Here you can hear what I found so good about his voice… somewhat like a new Bjorling, to my ears. He was no actor, unfortunately, but then neither was Bjorling from all accounts. His career fell apart after illness and he died a couple of years ago, no age at all. Listen to his Calaf and enjoy him in his prime, not overshadowed by the top Turandot of the time, Jane Eaglen.
