Product Description

CD84023 Tristan und Isolde - Bayreuth 1963 (non-premium)

This performance was first shared in November 2006, and I have finally got around to listening to it in detail. There were quite a few problems with it, for instance the entire performance was more than a semi-tone sharp, both the bass and the treble had been augmented to the detriment of the middle frequencies, and each act had four or five short dropouts. I have repaired all these as much as I can, patching in the dropouts from the 1962 Bayreuth broadcast with pretty much the same cast. Since the original upload was 64k mono, I have left it at that bitrate. To my ears this is now much better than it was, so I thought I would post it. Tim
