Product Description

CD85119 Sullivan's Ivanhoe

This scene contains two of the main numbers - Ulrica's "Whet the keen axes" and Rebecca's "Lord of our chosen race" (including a refrain which Sullivan said he heard in a Leipzig synagogue).

This is by far the best modern recording of any part of 'Ivanhoe', but my mp3 version suffers from artefacts towards the end.

The other is taken from what I thought was the 1995 BBC series "Britannia at the Opera" and has more excerpts, with all the main solo numbers in the score, including the opera's hit song "Ho, Jolly Jenkin". The BBC Programme Catalogue suggests it dates from 2000, which I find hard to believe.

There's a complete score of 'Ivanhoe' here:

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
