CD85551 Simon Boccanegra, BBC c.1965

Hi everyone I don't have definitive information about this performance. I originally thought it to be live broadcast from Covent Garden since this cast was performing this opera during December 1965. However on listening it quickly became apparent that this was a BBC studio recording since there was no audience or applause. It was most likely recorded sometime during December 1965 when everyone was assembled in London for the stage performances. It was not broadcast at the time, and I actually don't know when it was broadcast, though clearly it was as the cast is announced at the end. Anyway it's an interesting performance, Gobbi is great, and the sound is decent BBC mono.
