Product Description

CD86039 Reynaldo Hahn. MOZART 1957 Lp transfer

I offered this transfer to Operashare some time ago but was, of course, asked for the date of the Lp issue. Although I own the Lps I have struggled to put a date on them. The set itself carries no sign of when it originated, but I eventually found a reference to the recording having been made in 1957. Musical excerpts were briefly available in the Belle Epoque series of EMI, now long OOP. This Lp transfer has the advantage of having all the dialogue.

Reynaldo Hahn: Mozart

Comédie musicale en trois actes de Sacha Guitry

Mozart, Annie Rozanne Madame d'Épinay, Annie Ducaux Marie-Anne de Saint-Pons, Micheline Arene Louise, Huguette Hennetier La Guimard, Tania Sourseva Le Marquis, Robert Moncade Grimaud, Georges Dumont Mdme d'Épinay (pour les parties chantes), Simone Simon-Gerard Au Clavecin, Louis Saguer Orchestre des Concerts Français Direction, André Jouve

This light comedy has the doubtful honour of making the famously short Wolfgang Mozart a trouser role made famous by the quite tall Yvonne Printemps. It is also an interesting dramatisation of Mozart's visit to Paris in 1778 but lacking conviction because his mother never appears and gets no more than a passing reference. There has to my knowledge been no modern production or recording.

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
