Product Description

CD88624 Don Carlo Marseille 1980 Aragall Dimitrova Zancanaro G

This is a very flawed audiocassette transfer of an in house recording with significant gaps and audio problems (for those who require specifics, see below). It's a pity because all the principals are in their prime. In keeping with all the above, the cast information I have is also quite fragmentary. Overall, we have the ruins of a very strong performance. Probably for the ardent fans only.

Don Carlo - Marseille - June 8 or August 6? 1980

Don Carlo - Juan Aragall Elisabetta - Ghena Dimitrova Eboli - ? Browne Posa - Giorgio Zancanaro Philippo - Bonaldo Giaiotti Gran Inquisitore - ? Tebaldo- ?

conductor?

tape problems: generally distorted at climaxes, a bit muddy, tape glitches in the auto-da-fe scene and end of opera in particular

gaps: second half of "Io vengo a domandar" missing; middle of "O don fatale" missing; 2nd half of Posa-Phillip duet apparently taken from a completely different broadcast performance with perhaps Boris Christoff as Phillip

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
