This is a project I have been meaning to do for a long time. I knew I had 2
cassette recordings of this work and I knew they were worth preserving. When I
took them out I found that neither was the 1977 premiere (which was broadcast).
These are the first complete performance (London, Westminster Cathedral, 1978)
and a full performance from Perth Festival, Scotland in 1981. The earlier was on
very poor tapes without Dolby, so I have included it at 256 kbps in the 3
sections in which it was recorded. The later performance was in much better (but
not perfect) sound so I included it (fully tracked) at 320 kbps (both mp3).
As far as I know no other recordings are openly available, but the British
Library has both of these and the original partial performance from 1977 for
those willing to endure the difficulties of gaining access.
