Product Description

CD93307 Lyric Opera of Chicago 25th Anniversary GALA - 25 Oct

Here is the Broadcast of the Lyric Opera of Chicago's 25th Anniversary GALA on October 14th 1979. The GALA was recorded by FM Radio station WFMT in STEREO and broadcast in a slightly edited format on Thanksgiving day 1979. The Master of Ceremonies was Sam Wanamaker, and the Host was Tito Gobbi.

In between the musical selections, you will hear the spoken voices of a multitude of operatic stars of the 1950's-70's. All commentary is included, and has been individually tracked as are the musical selections. The entire GALA runs 3-hours and there are 33 individual tracks. I should point out that there were some very strange microphone placements on the stage, and at times the spoken guests are nearly inaudible. There is a bit of tape degradation about half-way through the GALA, nothing serious, but you can hear it in one channel.

For this re-upload I am supplying only *.Flac files, the *.zip file is 929Mb. Here are the musical contents:
