Product Description

CD91285 Lugano (Martha Argerich) Festival 2011 - first(?) broa This is the first broadcast concert I've seen at least from Martha Argerich's Lugano Festival this year. I could easily have missed others though. If anyone notices one in the offing, do drop me a line.

This concert was performed on 28 June 2011 at Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano and broadcast by one of the German ARD channels (can't remember which now) on 8 August this year.

The Orchestra della Svizzera italiana is conducted by Alexander Vedernikov and the soloists follow in brackets against the relevant piece.

Liadov - Nénie, op 67

Schubert - Fantasy in C major, D 760 (arr. Liszt for piano & orchestra) (Francesco Piemontesi)

Respighi - Adagio con variazioni (version for cello and orchestra) (Mischa Maisky)

Tchaikovsky - Nocturne, op 19 no 4 (arr. for cello and orchestra) (Mischa Maisky)

Bruch - Kol Nidrei. Adagio on Two Hebrew Melodies for Cello and Orchestra, op 47

Balakirev - Piano Concerto no 2 in E flat major, op posth (Lilya Zilberstein)

Elgar - Cello Concerto in E minor, op 85 (Gautier Capuçon)

As a little extra, the radio channel played three pieces from Ravel's `Ma mère l'oye' with Martha Argerich and Lilya Zilberstein from a concert on 11 August at the 2006 Schwetzingen Festival.

Everything's sown up into a zip file - flac only (16 bit, 44.1kbps).
