Product Description

CD90648 GOTTERDAMMERUNG FLAGSTAD OSLO 1956

the original LPs - this is taken from Oslo radio broadcasts on January 5 (Act 1), January 8 (Act 2) and January 10 (Act 3) 1956. The original broadcast was not complete and Decca later recorded scenes (in order to cement Flagstad's contract with them) to complete the performance but never recorded the Act 1 interlude between Hagen's Watch and the scene between Brunnhilde and Waltraute so that is missing. For some reason the CD reissues have piqued interest in the performance, which, truthfully, isn't so good but here it is!!!The cast is as follows:

Brunnhilde - Kirsten Flagstad Siegfried - Set Svanholm Waltraute/ First Norn - Eva Gustavson Gunther - Waldemar Johnsen Hagen - Egil Nordsjo Alberich - Per Gronneberg Wellgunde/Second Norn - Karen Marie Flagstad Gutrune/Third Norn - Ingrid Bjoner Woglinde - Unni Bugge-Hanssen Flosshilde - Beate Asserson

Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra Norwegian State Rdio Orchestra Opera Chorus Conductor - Oivin Fjeldstad

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
