Product Description

CD89969 operaconcert Chicago 10 November 1956

In a remote corner of my collection I found an lp I had completely forgotten. It is called 'An Evening at the Lyric Opera of Chicago' and was recorded on 10 November 1956. When the recording has been published, I do not know, but as I have a review from March 1958 it must have been before that time. The whole concert (also including Richard Tucker) has been uploaded four years ago but is not available anymore. Here I offer you the part of the concert that has been published officially, in very good sound in seven separate files (wav-flac). I removed three clicks by hand, but did not touch the sound itself to preserve the sound of voices and orchestra as good as possible, also because I think that in this digital era we are somewhat overreacting to background noise (at least when lp's are involved…)

Saint-Saens: Samson et Dalila 'S'apre per te il mio cor' Giulietta Simionato Tchakovsky: Engeny Onegin 'Letter Scene' Renata Tebaldi Mascagni: Cavalleria rusticana 'Voi lo sapete' Giulietta Simionato Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro 'Voi che sapete' Giulietta Simionato Giordano: Andrea Chenier 'Nemico della patria' Ettore Bastianini Boito: Mefistofele 'L'altra notte' Renata Tebaldi Ponchielli: La Gioconda 'E un anathema' Renata Tebaldi & Giulietta Simionato Orchestra of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Conductor: Georg Solti

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
