Hans C. Reinders > I guess anyone interested in the historical aspects of recorded opera must return to those very early recordings of Caruso in 1902. My interest in the opera "Germania" (and many thanks for those who responded to my Operashare request) is because the early recording "engeneer", Fred Gainsburg, who heard Caruso for the first time in the opera "Germania" at La Scala, decided to record him in a hotel room in Milan on April 11,1902. I have never heard "Germania" and while reading a bio of Caruso, reference was made to this opera so I was eager to listen to it. > > Just in case anyone else shares my interest in these early recordings, the below link will take you to an excerpt from the bio I am reading, a photo of Caruso (from my private collection) at the approxiate time he made these recording, two photos of his tomb in Naples which I took, and two recording of "Germania" the he recorded at these sessions. > > > Bruce Boyce > > A link to the complete opera of "Germania" with my thanks to Operashare memberd: >

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
