Product Description

CD86890 RICHARD LEWIS English Songs - London 63

Thank you very much for this upload, "maulwurfchen"!

I believe this is part of a recital from Calgary, February 20, 1963, with Geoffrey Parsons on piano.* The program contained works by Purcell, Handel, Duparc, Offenbach, Britten ("On This Island"), Vaughan-Williams, Quilter, the four songs uploaded here, along with encores by Bizet, Massenet and Rutland Boughton.

I'm delighted to hear more from this great tenor. I wish that Dutton had included all of the folksongs from the original LP on their CD. I would love to hear the songs missing from it.

Elias

* I understand that Geoffrey Parsons had learned just prior to the recital that his father had died. What a dedicated musician.
