Two delightful operettas by Offenbach (who wrote an amazing 99 of them) hearedyesterday (15 August 2009) in public for the first time in 44 years. Therecordings were made by ORTF back in the '60s with the usual exemplary cast ofsingers and players (according to yesterday's announcer). This is from FranceMusique's satellite relay.
The first operetta is
'La Boulangère a des écus'- opéra bouffe en 4 actes (prem. 19 October 1875)with Lina Dachary, Claudine Collart, Aimé Doniat, Raymond Amade, Gaston Rey,Jacques Pruvost, René LenotyOrchestre Lyrique de l'ORTF is conducted by Jean-Paul Krederrec. 14 January, 1965 l'ORTF

'Belle Lurette' - Opéra comique en trois actes (prem. 30 October 1880)with Lina Dachary, Claudine Collart, Germaine Parat, Dominique Tirmont, JosephPeyron, Gaston Rey, Freda Betti, Aimé DoniatOrchestre Lyrique de l'ORTF is conducted by Roger Albinrec. May, 1965
As before (see message #70874), the original spoken introductions andexplanations of the action are retained - charming throwback to a bygone age.
