CD85799 Troilus and Cressida by Walton – RFH London 2002 and

Here is yet another live broadcast of this most under-appreciated opera, this time performed in concert during the centenary celebrations of Walton's birth. After the performance, there was a fascinating studio discussion about Walton, which I have included as a separate file. Recorded from BBC Radio 3 on VHS stereo tape, and transferred digitally to mp3 files ay 320 kbps. Each .rar file contains the introduction and Act as separate tracks.

Apart from the 1963 Covent Garden broadcast which I understand to be forthcoming, this completes the uploading of all known broadcasts of this opera. There have been other performances, in New York City, San Francisco, Canada (with Jon Vickers) and Australia all in the 1950s, at the Cornish St. Endellion Festival in August 2002 and at St. Louis, USA in 2008. Also, Act 2 was performed at a Promenade Concert in 1972. If anyone has any of these performances, I would be most grateful for an upload to this Group.

Enjoy the Opera, Alvaro

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
