Product Description

CD84304 Tchaikovsky's Iolantha from the Odessa Opera House

Here's a performance by native Russian speakers of Tchaikovsky's one act opera Iolantha. It was given on September 25 2010 and broadcast yesterday (30 October 2010) by Deutschlandradio kultur as part of the Euroradio Opera Season 2010/11

The singing is not top rate (perhaps not even second rate in some cases), but it's an authentic Russian (or Ukrainian) production, and interesting for that reason alone.

Iolantha Opera in one act, op 69 Libretto: Modest Tchaikovsky

René - Volodymyr Tarasov (bass) Robert - Viktor Mitiushkin (baritone) Tristan Vaudémont - Anatoliy Duda (tenor) Ibn-Jahia - Volodymyr Murashchenko (baritone) Alméric - Serhiy Krasnykh (tenor) Bertrand - Serhiy Uzun (bass) Jolanta - Inga Martynova (soprano) Marta - Nadiya Shakun (alto) Brigitta - Anastasiya Shcherbata (soprano) Laura - Ilona Skrypnyk (mezzo-soprano)

Chorus and Orchestra of the Odessa Opera House conducted by Oksana Lyniv
