CD89466 Sills Lucia July 4, 1972 Buenos Aires
Again, to commemorate the birthday of Beverly Sills (May 25), here's another performance of Lucia, this time from the run in Buenos Aries in the winter of 1972. An earlier performance there on June 25, 1972, broadcast on the radio, has been available for many years (and is currently on OperaShare at Message #87634).
This one, however, is the last of that five-performance run on July 4, 1972. The cast is the same as the June 25 and the performances are somewhat similar, but this one has a more enthusiastic audience, with longer applause for the arias than in the earlier recording.
The sound is very clear and consistent, probably recorded from the house microphones, as there is no close-up audience noise or talking.
