CD81333 Rossini: La Donna del Lago von Stade/Horne/Blake Carnegie

Rossini: La Donna del Lago Carnegie Hall 4 November 1982 in-house recording

Elena – Frederica von Stade Malcom – Marilyn Horne Albina – Emily Golden Uberto – Rockwell Blake Rodrigo – Dano Raffanti Douglas – Dmitri Kavrakos Bertram/Serano – James Atherton

Conductor – Donato Renzetti

Since this seems to be the year for La Donna del Lago, one of my favorite Rossini operas, I thought I would upload this in-house recording of what was the first of a series of three Rossini operas done in concert at Carnegie Hall, all featuring Marilyn Horne. This is close to the same cast as the Houston performance the previous year which has long been available on Ponto, but it features a different bass and, most importantly, a different conductor. I find this, all in all, a much more exciting performance than the one from Houston. (and perhaps it will be a new treat for Michael?)

USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
