Alan Curtis – conductor

As a good friend is currently conducting a new production of this opera (unfortunately not to be broadcast), I thought I would dig out one of a series of recordings I have conducted by Alan Curtis from the Innsbruck Festival. Despite omitting the characters of Nutrice, Valletto and Damighella, this is still fairly complete version of Monteverdi's great final opera and features a rare live performance by the French countertenor Henri Ledroit who died tragically young in the late 1980s
