Upon hearing of the death of Charles Mackerras, I was suprised to find so few of his famed Mozart performances posted, so I now offer this Cosi from Aix from over 30 years ago. It's not perfect: Masterson gets badly lost in the first half of "Come scoglio" (perhaps due to Mackerras' ambitious ornamentation) but recovers nicely, Burrowes makes a bad entrance in her second aria and there are transmission problems during Skram's first aria. Nor is the performance complete: the first-act men's duettino and "Ah lo veggio" are omitted. However, I think it's an appealing example of Mackerras' polished Mozart style
