Dear All,
this is an orchestral suite composed by one of the most famous contemporary Romanian composers (he died in 2005), Vasile Spatarelu. I have added below a few lines about him (I tried avoiding diacritics):
He was born on 21 April 1938 in Tamna (Mehedinti county) and followed the courses of the Bucharest Music Conservatory. From 1963 he established himself in Iasi, where besides his activity as a professor, he also occupied other positions: dean of the Faculty of Composition and Musicology of the "George Enescu" University, Secretary of the Iaşi branch of the Union of Composers and Musicologists, Vicepresident of the Commission for Evaluation and Academic Accreditation in the field of arts (from 1994). He was one of the main organizers of the "Musical holidays in Piatra Neamt". In 2002, he got his PhD with a theme titled "Meditations on Enescu, a creation project on the configuration of musical thinking as a synthesis between tradition and contemporaneity". He enjoyed the public appreciation and admiration and was conferred awards by the Romanian Union of Composers and Musicologists and the Romanian Academy. He died on 24 March 2005, in full artistic maturity. He wrote both choral and instrumental music, orchestral and chamber (among which 4 string quartets). The Brevis Suite, in 7 parts, was composed in 1968, is quite different from his other compositions and is characterized by the Radio presenter as having "an archaic lyricism and Renaissance reflexes".
