REQUEST Re: bach concerto for 2 violins w/Heifetz cond. by Franz Waxman

Franz Waxman's name has popped up from time to time on OS; he is mostly known as a film composer, but he was extremely active as a conductor in Los Angeles, being among the group of extraordinary musicians that fled Europe with the onset of W.W.II (others included Schoenberg, Korngold, Stravinsky, and many others). He founded the Los Angeles International Music Festival and was its director for 20 years, and recorded extensively for MGM records, mostly modern classical music of great interest. His concert works were largely eclipsed by the film scores, which included "Sunset Boulevard", "A Place in the Sun" and "Rear Window". The most frequently recorded is his Carmen Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra, originally written as part of the film score for "Humoresque" and intended to be played by Heifetz, but Issac Stern ended up playing it for the film. Waxman died of cancer at the age of 60 in 1967.

I think further uploads of his work as a conductor would find eager listeners on OS. I'm pretty certain the only source would be from lp transfers of the MGM recordings. If any member has any of them and also has the proper skills and equipment to transfer them to digital files, they would make most interesting uploads. Many thanks, FK
