Here is a great performance of the big fairytale DIE FRAU OHNE SCHATTEN. As far as I know, this was more or less the last performance of Leonie Rysanek singing once again one of her favourites, the empress. She is joined by colleagues all in great voice! Take special attention to the youthfully sung emperor by Robert Schunk. It was a rare moment at the end of the opera, at the climax to got from him a glorious high C together with the ladies! Most tenors of that role are not able to sing it, so this was really thrilling! Dohnanyi was and still is a great conductor for this opera. The sound of this inhouse-recording is pretty good for the time, unfortunately the opening bars of act 1 are missing. Enjoy!
