Hi everyone I recently posted Goodall's in-house Rheingold from Covent Garden in 1975, here now is another of his Rhinegold's this time at ENO in 1973. It's a nice contrast to the Chandos issue (rec.1975), and the Mackerras broadcast the previous year from ENO. The source is a little obscure, it was the opening night of the ENO season, but wasn't broadcast by the BBC (at least not at the time). Yet the recording is in stereo, and while a little hissy is very good, making me think that it was perhaps an in house taping by the opera company using microphones over the stage, rather than being recorded in the auditorium.
