Product Description

CD89890 Chicago, opening night (Verdon, Rivera, Orbach)

Here's a re-upload of the recording of opening night on Broadway of the original production of CHICAGO (June 3, 1975), which I first posted here a couple of years ago.

It's missing a few bits, including (unfortunately) the trial scene. In the first act, there a couple of weird glitches (some of which have brief tracks of their own) when the sound stops and starts a few times, but those are brief.

It's an audience recording and not the best sound for 1975, but it's pretty listenable, if occasionally a little faint. The overture may make you think the sound is going to be awful, but after that it improves.
