Product Description

CD89483 Kern's OH, BOY! (Groenendaal, O'Hara, Lehman; McGlinn)

Here's an audience recording of the January 1985 concert performances of Jerome Kern's OH, BOY! that were conducted by John McGlinn at Carnegie Recital Hall. As with all of McGlinn's Carnegie/Weill Recital Hall performances, this was unamplified.

This recording is of the complete concert, which included all the dialogue as well as a couple of songs that were cut prior to the Broadway opening at the Princess Theatre in 1917. This was one of Kern's most successful shows, running 463 performances, a very good run indeed in those days.

Sound is a bit hissy but pretty good. Some of the dialogue is a tad difficult to hear, but the songs come through clearly. This is uploaded at 128, which is what I received it at.

OH, BOY! Music by Jerome Kern Book and lyrics by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse Orchestrations by Frank Saddle
