Product Description

CD87134 Sills in Baby Doe

As requested privately by "bboyce150", here is a re-upload of the only live performance I have of Beverly Sills in Douglas Moore's "The Ballad of Baby Doe." The links to my original upload in 2007 (message 33864) have been deleted.

This is strictly for Baby Doe and Sills fans only, as the sound is not great. The voices are distant and the sound is somewhat constricted. Still, it has its pleasures, especially for the Augusta of Muriel Costa-Greenspon. The cast is huge, so I am only giving the main characters.

I'm still hoping that someone has a live recording out there that I've seen referred to only once in a collector's catalog - an NYCO performance on tour in LA from Dec. 1, 1969 with Sills, Cassel and Bible.

By the way, the request from "bboyce150" yesterday for two performances of Baby Doe by Sills in LA in 1965 was not correctly dated (NYCO's first tour to LA was not until 1967 and Sills did not sing Baby Doe there until the one I reference above from 1969). The only two recordings I know of are the two just discussed from 1969 (one in New York, one in LA).

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
