CD86981 Additional Info on recent Sills Queens

Thanks to "bboyce150" for the recent uploads (message 86966) of three Donizetti Queens performances with Sills that are new to OperaShare.

For completists, here is some additional data for each:

The Devereux (10/18/70) was the next performance after the NYCO premiere of Oct 15. The Page was Jack Bittner and the Servant was Don Yule.

The Stuarda is from March 16, 1972 (the only time in 72 that Galvany and Rampaso sang in the same performance). The Herald was Joseph Galiano.

The Bolena is the NYCO premiere on October 3, 1973 (the same cast also sang the next performance but comparing the two performances easily identifies this one as the premiere). The Smeton was Hilda Harris.

For those who might have missed them, I still have active links to alternative NYCO performances of each opera with Sills. I'll re-post them here for those interested in comparisons:

Donizetti: Roberto Devereux New York City Opera October 13, 1971 Julius Rudel, conductor

Elisabetta - Beverly Sills Sara - Susanne Marsee Roberto - Enrico Di Giuseppe Nottingham - Richard Fredricks Cecil - Bernard Fitch Raleigh - David Rae Smith Page - William Ledbetter Servant - Don Yule

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
