Product Description

CD83726 Carrillo's Preludio a Cristobal Colon (Columbia, 1930)

Monday is Columbus Day here in the USA, and so I present a tribute to the great explorer from another explorer (but in music), Julián Carrillo. His "Preludio a Cristobal Colón" (1922) is written in microtones, that is, intervals smaller than the standard half-steps of Western music. It is played in this recording of c. 1930 by the 13th Sound Ensemble of Havana, under the direction of the violinist Angel Reyes. This zip file contains one MP3 file at 160kbps, sourced from Columbia 7357-M (one 78-rpm record), a JPG of the record label, and a text file:

Important Information!!!
USA Telephone (404) 200-4776 We sell only opera recordings. The recordings are sent to you in paper sleeves with no tray card or inserts, just the raw discs with printed labels. These recordings are of nonprofessional quality that are in the public domain. The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
