Greetings everyone,
In 1996 a great friend recorded a wonderful performance of Glinka's " A Life for the Tsar" (AKA "Ivan Susanin") during a visit to the Opera House in Zürich. John Allison in his review in "Opera" [October 1996, p.1229] is very impressed and says Salminen's performance: "..from start to finish confirmed this as one of the great bass roles he sang with sculpted magnificence". Great applause! Recordings of this formative and splendid opera are not common so I hope this very good in-house recording is enjoyed by many.

The quality of these old opera recordings is not very good and they are meant for collectors and educational purposes only. Most of them are 30 or 40 years old, so they might be blurry, colors faded, and not sound very good, but they might not be available elsewhere. Please note that most of our recordings do not have tracks, they have 1 long track per disc.
