8 years after his only Bayreuth appearances in his role, Herr Bjoerling is still in tremendous form, and holds the final "nie" right up to the Siegfried motif. (Not many Wotans do that, even allowing for a faster tempo-notable exceptions are John Tomlinson and Mr Uusitalo, who actually holds the note right into the motif!) Bjoerling debuted at the Stockholm Royal Opera in 1935. His career continued way beyond 1959,, and he could still be heard giving a tremendous complete Wotan/Wanderer in Stockholm as late as 1972.
